VYBE Virtual Reality Experience

Slide 16_9 - 24 (1).png

Project Overview

VYBE is a VR-enabled application that allows users to focus on something else besides the anxious or intrusive thoughts that often come with stress.

VYBE customizes one’s experience whether peace for you is defined as a secluded beach in Honolulu or a way out into Outerspace with the stars. Users are enabled to make this experience their own by selecting from songs or playlists they vibe to the best with during their meditation session.

Problem & Challenges

Group 468.png

The big switch to remote work has been helpful for public health, but it’s fueling some new work-life balance and mental health issues. Many workers report struggling to disengage from work when their new “office” is their spare bedroom or kitchen table.

Problem Statement: Remote workers need a way to practice mindfulness easily and consistently because they desire peace of mind and healthy boundaries in their new workplace.

How might we help remote workers develop a practice of mindfulness to transform their homes as a place of stress to a place of peace?

Usability Testing

We started our testing with 5 secs testing where we asked users about what does VYBE represents.

The result was 100% of our users recognized us as a Music Meditative VR

We conducted Usability Testing on different groups ages between 20-45 via Maze. We gave our user three main tasks to perform.

Task 1:  Sign Up!

Results:  We found out that 85% of our users were keen to log in via Spotify hence making it a primary button became an easy design decision.

Task 3: Play any song of your choice.

Results:  We found out that 88% of our users clicked on a conventional song rather than a meditative tune, which showed us that people have different tastes in music for mediation, which brought us to a decision that all sorts of genres should be a part of VYBE.

Task 2: Click on the Dashboard to start the process.

Results:  We found out that 56% of our users were clicking on Demo rather than Start Vybing Single Song and hence we had to iterate to make those changes in the next iteration.

Engineer Handoff

I collaborated with two other designers and one developer who bought our vision and designs to life as a team.

Here are a few steps we took as a team did for a smooth handoff:

Software-Developer-Software-Engineer-Dice.png
  1. Naming our files: Let the file/screen name not possess any form of versioning. We named the screen that should simply describe its function.

  2. Make a flow:  It helps the product manager understand how the user journey is panning out and helps the developer plan her/his approach to code.

  3. Specs & Assets: We communicated to the developer the Grid System you’re using in your designs. I use an 8-point grid system considering almost all the screen sizes in the market are divisible by 8.

  4. Tools: We also used Github and Figma for a smooth handoff.
